ビル屋上のペントハウスに住み、探偵事務所の下働きをする修（萩原健一）と、彼を「アニキィ！」と慕う亨（水谷豊）。修の貧乏生活を知る探偵事務所のボス、貴子（岸田今日子）とその手下、辰巳（岸田森）は、金をエサに彼らに毎回無茶苦茶な仕事を押しつける。割に合わないと思いつつも、がむしゃらな修は命懸けで危険な仕事に飛び込んでいくのだが、根っからの善人で単細胞なゆえに、仕事も思わぬ方向へ暴走してしまう。笑いあり、涙あり、お色気ありで展開するストーリーには、息をもつかせぬスピード感がみなぎっている。
