周天銘與蕭振邦、蕭慧賢兩兄妹本為世交好友，但振邦他們的父親蕭柏齡卻於周家的生意出現困難時，乘人之危，吞掉周家產業。天銘因家中巨變及一心發展事業，冷落女友朱淑莊，此時振邦竟與淑莊發展感情，更向她求婚，天銘因而更痛恨蕭家。後來，周父與柏齡起衝突而心臟病發，最終病逝，天銘為了報仇，不惜利用慧賢，與她結婚。婚後，天銘逐步染指蕭家生意，圖恢復周家產業，重振周家聲威，卻因越走越歪，終釀成無可挽回的局面。
