34歲的早川基子（小林聡美飾）在一家信用金庫工作，她和好友兼同事馬場萬裏子（小泉今日子飾）是單位裏同期進去的員工裏唯二沒有結婚的，沒有愛情，在家裏被母親（白石加代子飾）當做孩童般管束；工作也是一日一日的簡單重複，基子對這樣的人生感到迷茫。 有一天，萬裏子突然帶著3億日元出逃，她打了通電話給基子告訴其要「精彩過日子。」基子懷著複雜的心情失聲痛哭，之後，她開始重新審視自己的生活。 基子無意間走到一個名為「Happiness三茶」的地方，在那裏竟然邂逅了20年前的玩伴龜山絆（ともさかりえ飾），最終基子搬來這裏，和天真妹房東芝本ゆか（市川実日子飾）、貧窮而樂觀的絆、人生經驗豐富的教授（淺丘ルリ子飾）開始了一段美好的同居生活。
